On
my Tables I use 1700’s-1800’s worn
smooth
flooring, mostly Eastern
White Pine
from PA.
It
has wonderful
character
& the old patina from all those years. The boards are carefully
selected
when purchased and loaded each time for the home trip to Georgia. Then
built to your specifications, which I select according to your
likes.
A lot of reproduction table makers use vintage beams from old mills
&
barns, which are then re-sawn, back into lumber for tables, which is
nice,
but not the same.
The tables are still made from old wood but have lost quite a bit of their natural patina which gives it that old look I so love & so they have to stain the tables & possible distress them even to regain that look they lost in the cut. Once the wood has been planed or heavily sanded it also loses this look. The wood I use is 1700’s-1800’s worn smooth flooring which has plenty of patina & character and holds it’s looks that it’s been around & used for hundreds of years, & I don’t use any stains, varnishes or poly. I use natural oils & waxes, which gives it a matted or more natural finish, which darkens the wood naturally & brings back the beauty. I also use reproduction 1700’s style nails to keep it all in the same period. Just like what a primitive harvest table or farm table would look like from the past. I offer several hand turned leg styles also straight beams, 4x4 or 4x6, tapered shaker beam legs or narrow shaker style tapered legs. or I can custom your legs style if you have one custom you'd like. Thank
you for your interest I hope this helps you understand my love
for
wood & my tables.
